What is the largest mammal in the world?

The largest mammal in the world is the blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus). These magnificent marine mammals can reach lengths of up to 100 feet (30 meters) and weigh as much as 200 tons. Blue whales are filter feeders, consuming tiny shrimp-like animals called krill by engulfing large quantities of water and then filtering out the krill through baleen plates in their mouths. Despite their enormous size, blue whales are gentle giants and are classified as endangered due to historical overexploitation from whaling.
